 His Excellency Jaime Ravenvet,
     Mayor of Santiago;
Distinguished Guests;
Ladies and Gentlemen,
    I  thank  you  for  the great honour you bestow upon me
with this presentation of the key to the city  of  Santiago.
It is with great pleasure that I accept this honour not only
for myself but for Malaysia as well.
2.   Since  the  establishment of formal diplomatic ties be-
tween Malaysia and Chile, our relations have grown steadily.
I am confident that my visit will lead to even  closer  ties
between our two countries and generate a broad range of eco-
nomic activities between our respective peoples.
3.   As  the  capital city of Chile, Santiago will become an
increasingly important destination for Malaysian Businessmen
and tourists.   I am hopeful that  Malaysian  Airlines  will
also  forge a link with Lan Chile that would facilitate this
exchange,  and  perhaps  shorten  the  flying  time  between
Santiago  and  Malaysia's  capital  city of Kuala Lumpur.  I
hope that the people of Santiago will  also  consider  Kuala
Lumpur  as their gateway to Southeast and East Asia.  I cor-
dially invite you Mr. Mayor to visit Kuala Lumpur  as  well.
I can assure you of a very warm welcome in Kuala Lumpur.
